CATS WIN SAT NIGHT; PLAY AGAIN TODAY SUN 4 PM IN CLARENVILLE
The Cataracts appear to still have lots of fight left in them, as they stormed back in the third period of Game 5 at "Home" for an emotional and convincing 5 - 2 victory over the Clarenville Caribous!
For a team that only lost three games all season, losing three in a row during this year's Final Series was clearly a whole new experience for the three-time defending Herder Champions.
All eyes will be on the team's "do-or-die" game this afternoon in Clarenville, set for play at 4 pm. Fans of both finalist teams will know soon enough whether this year's League Finals will go to seven games... the seventh game is scheduled for next Friday night in GFW if the Series has to go the full length.
If the Finals do go seven games, it will mean that the League Winner will have to play Friday night in GFW and then immediately travel to Harbour Grace for the start of the Herder Finals in the AESHL venue. That potential senario is a direct result of another Schedule change ruling that was required to be made by the League Executive, after the Clarenville Caribous requested that Games 5,6 and 7, not be played Friday,Saturday and Sunday ,March 17th,18th and 19th, because Clarenville had a number of players who were unavailable for a Friday night contest(in GFW). Thus, only two games - on Sat and Sun this weekend(Mar 18th/19th) - were scheduled. A seventh game, if necessary, will be played in GFW the night before the start of the Herder.
